NRPP Bioinformatics
Our work in bioinformatics encompasses a wide range of open source projects for proteomics and related areas. The majority of the projects are based on the Java programming language. These are disseminated through the central ProteomeCommons.org site for open source platforms and frameworks. ProteomeCommons.org is a significant proteomics resource site maintained by the NRPP and provides a number of file dissemination, data hosting and project hosting services for the proteomics community. Through this, NRPP also developed and maintains the open source file sharing tool, Tranche, for disseminating raw and annotated proteomics data. The Tranche Project has a current capacity of 100 TB storage.
In addition, the NRPP maintains servers for most mass spectrometry (MS) search tools- MASCOT, X! Tandem, Protein Prospector, SpectrumMill, Sequest and many more.
